1. Waimea Valley Trail

For an education in native plants and the scenery of beautiful gardens, this accessible Waimea Valley Trail is ideal for a less strenuous adventure. Imagine your kids running from plaque to plaque along the route for interesting facts on the valley's ecology and history. Best of all, you can enjoy a dip in the Waimea Waterfalls at the end, where lifeguards are on duty from 9 AM.

  • What to Expect: 1.5 miles round trip | 30 minutes - 1 hour
  • Entry: $25 for persons aged 13-61 | $20 for seniors 62+ | $15 for children ages 4-12

2. Diamond Head (Leahi) Summit Trail

This trail on the western slope of Kahana Bay offers stunning views of the bay and passes by cultural sites like Kapa‘ele‘ele Ko‘a (fishing shrine) and Keaniani Kilo (lookout). The walk, despite being along open slopes, is mainly covered by a canopy of native forestry.
